A quick stop in Sydney

We flew into sunny Sydney yesterday and were greeted by 38 degrees! Phew πŸ˜… we all felt a little like we were melting by the time we arrived at our new Airbnb! Thankfully we have a lovely airy room with a little breeze blowing through and some cool shutters to keep the suns heat out.Β

We only have 1 and 1/2 days in the city before collecting our camper van, so after a quick freshen up and a reapply of suncream we set off for the city sights!

Luckily we are staying right in the heart of the city so a ten minute walk and we were at Darlington harbour.

Next to the harbour there’s an amazing children’s play park and water play area, so the girls changed into their swimwear and had a great time getting absolutely soaked! Just what they needed on such a sweltering hot day.

When they had finally had enough and dried off we bought some scrummy ice creams and walked along the harbour side by the lovely blue waters, past the bustling cafes and bars, looking at all the tall buildings of the central business district of the other side!

We walked all the way to Pyrmont Bay and jumped on a ferry to Circular Quay to see the famous bridge and opera house! On the 20 minute boat ride the sun was shining and the wind was definitely in our hair…in fact there was a bit of a Marilyn Monroe moment as I tried to take some photos!!! Yikes 🌬

But just beautiful and just so lovely to see the worlds most famous harbour, a place we’ve seen so many times in tv with our own eyes!

When we got off we had a walk around the streets, and found a place for dinner, a delicious Italian…and it was happy hour! Wahay! Afterwards we enjoyed walking around the opera house in the evening sun! A Perfect end to our first day!

Today we all woke up late, I think we were all so tired from such a busy day of walking around we all needed the extra hours! πŸ’€

The heat today was so hot and we were all feeling a little worn out by it so we decided to keep out of the sun and actually visited the hunger games exhibition that’s showing here at the moment! The girls had no idea what it was all about but after a (gentle) plot summary they liked the idea of Katniss Everdeen, well I think Molly liked her cross bow and Daisy liked her outfits!

This afternoon we have came back to our Airbnb and the girls have enjoyed playing with the children that live in the house. The water hose has been out in the garden and everyone’s been totally soaked! Nice to have some down time, and spend some time with another family.

Tomorrow is an exciting day as we pick up the camper van to start our journey up the east coast! So if anyone has any recommendations of places to stop please send them our way!

Xxx
