Healesville sanctuary

Just a quick little post about today’s trip to Healesville Sanctuary!

After picking up our hire car this morning we decided it was time to get up close and see some of the Aussie wildlife! So we drove about an hour out of Melbourne to the Sanctuary which is in the natural bush land of the Yarra valley.

They have many native Australian animals including platypus, koalas, wallabies, emus, wombats, kookaburra, kangaroos…and many more! We decided to book an animal encounter and all agreed it just had to be the kangaroos! You can’t get more Aussie than that!

We arrived at the kangaroo enclosure at our allotted time and the keeper showed us in and told us how to feed them, where to stroke them and generally lots of interesting information about them.

We were told to stick with lovely Lacey the kangaroo and she was just so soft and sweet! Nibbling away at her carrots, corn and greens! She even posed for a selfie with us! The girls and I just loved her, another animal we want to smuggle back home!!!

Afterwards we toured the rest of the Sanctuary seeing all the other wonderful (and some a little weird) animals!

A fab day out!
