After just 5 days in Paraty I think we have mastered the art of chilling, also know as the art of doing nothing without being bored! We have become so lazy, hanging out in our relaxing jungle home, even forgetting about lunch until 2-3pm! It really is very odd, but also very nice! A welcome break in this crazy 6 months.
This afternoon however we did finally muster up the get up and go to book a boat trip to visit some of the many beautiful islands off the coast!
We were recommended a local guy, Fabiano and his boat by some Paraty tour guides (figured that was a good sign) so we sent him a message and half an hour later we were climbing aboard his nippy little speed boat!
In all honesty (and in keeping with our new laid back vibeπ€) we didn’t really know what or where we were going, but up came the anchor and off we sped!
The flat bay of Paraty is just stunning with its emerald green waters and rich backdrop of lush trees and mountains, its home to over 300 islands all with many secluded coves and pretty sandy beaches.
Fabiano drove his boat for about 20 minutes, pulled into a little cove and dropped anchor. The crystal clear water was only about 2 metres deep and we could see all the beautiful fish swimming clearly underneath the boat. Suddenly I heard a splash and realised he’d jumped in and was beckoning us to do the same! No looking back now, masks and snorkels on and in we jumped!
Well I think Daisy lasted about 2 minutes with all the fish swimming around her, so she decided (freaked out!!!) that it would be better if she stayed on board the boat keeping an eye on things! So the rest of us swam around looking at all the different fishπ ππ ππ ππ , and even found a couple of starfish, which Daisy did love!
Fabiano told us that he had seen turtles earlier on in the day at a nearby cove, so we climbed back aboard and set off again.
As we steamed along, the water was just twinkling, absolute paradise! Even on a slightly overcast day like today it was so gorgeous.
So arriving at the next cove we anchored the boat right next to a gorgeous secluded beach, we jumped off the boat and walked up the fine golden sands trying our best to absorb where we where. It was like something out of a movie set, just stunning! It even had coconuts hanging from trees, and better yet there were lots of turtles swimming around popping their heads up for air and then diving back down! AMAZING! We tried our best to capture a picture but they’re surprisingly quick swimmers ! π’
On the way back we stopped at more beautiful coves and swam and explored beaches, what a trip! We returned salty, windswept, very happy, it wasn’t at all what we were expecting but so so amazing! Hope the pictures give you an idea of what it was like, sorry loads!!!π
