We flew into sunny Sydney yesterday and were greeted by 38 degrees! Phew 😅 we all felt a little like we were melting by the time we arrived at our new Airbnb! Thankfully we have a lovely airy room with a little breeze blowing through and some cool shutters to keep the suns heat out. Continue reading
Healesville sanctuary
Just a quick little post about today’s trip to Healesville Sanctuary!
After picking up our hire car this morning we decided it was time to get up close and see some of the Aussie wildlife! So we drove about an hour out of Melbourne to the Sanctuary which is in the natural bush land of the Yarra valley. Continue reading
Sunny days in Melbourne
We arrived in hot and sunny Melbourne on Monday and we’ve packed in a lot this week, I think I really should have done a post earlier as I now have so much to write and remember! Continue reading
New Zealand it’s been great!
Well what a truly fabulous 4 weeks we’ve had here is New Zealand! Such a wonderfully and friendly country with such diverse and beautiful landscapes!
This evening as we enjoyed our last dinner here in Auckland, we chatted about our favourite places and activities….there were just so many! From glow worms to paradise beaches, from volcanos to bush baths, it really has been wonderful! Continue reading
A little time out in the countryside

When we were planning our time in New Zealand, I thought it wouldn’t be complete without us experiencing some of the rural farm life. New Zealand first established farms for cattle and sheep when the first settlers arrived here and today its big business and there’re about 4 times more wollies than people! Continue reading
Cathedral Cove and Tairua

Well hands down this sure is a beautiful corner of the world! We have continued our beach bum lifestyle and spent 2 days exploring the coastline around the area!
Yesterday morning we woke up in our cute little shed and as much as we would have loved to while away the day in the gorgeous sunny garden and bush bath we had booked a boat trip so off we went! Continue reading
Lazy days on the coromandel
This week has been all about the coromandel beaches! We’ve turned into right beach bums and been trying to decide on our perfect beach!
It’s a tough life considering the fineness of sand, clearness of water, added extras of beach swings hanging from Pohutukawa trees and then of course there’s the Continue reading
Steamy Rotorua

We have enjoyed the last few days in Rotorua with my family and it has sure been busy!
The town is famous for its volcanic geothermal activity, it’s pretty sulphur smelly with hot pools bubbling and steaming all over the place! So unlike anywhere we’ve been! We visited many pools, geysers and crater lakes in the area, all bubbling hot, with some incredible rock formations and the girls have done some great learning about how they all work. Continue reading
A busy last day of the year in New Zealand!

A quick post as it’s New Year’s Eve, tomorrow brings the start of a shiny new year and today’s been a busy day of adventures!
This morning after a slow and lazy start we finally got ourselves in gear and took a drive around and out of Rotorua. We pretty much followed our noses and ended up at the Waimango volcanic valley. The youngest hydrothermal system in the world, Continue reading
A wonderful stay in Honikiwi

After a lovely week in Whangerai we packed up from our house with the pool and took the 4 hour drive south to the Waikato area to our next Airbnb.
I had booked the rustic barn near the town of honikiwi mainly for its position, not far from the Waitomo glow worm caves and because it also had a cabin for my parents and sister, so we could all fit in. Continue reading
